Mentor Spotlight-Angela

RoxyAngela (Large)It is such a pleasure to write about our most recent mentor Angela S. who is currently volunteering and tutoring some of the children we work with who need extra help.  She approached me a few months ago and expressed her interest in helping those who need some extra special attention along with homework assistance.  Angela is the daughter of two parents who have been in our program since 1995. We have known her since she was born.  Angela understands what it’s like to have parents with a developmental disability and the challenges that come along with that.

Angela shares her experience. “I am enjoying this experience because it makes me happy to see the kids progress in the little time that I have been doing this. When I see that they are enjoying the time I am spending with them, it helps me feel like I am making a difference in their lives.”

Currently, Angela is going to UCLA and is graduating this June 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  She plans to go into teaching.  We are so proud of her and are thrilled to have her be part of our program!
