Mentor Spotlight-Gabby

Gabby is a senior at California State University Northridge.  She has    been a mentor for our Foundation since Summer 2014. With almost one year of mentoring children and attending group activities, she shares her experience.

“Interning at Childbirth Connection Foundation was a great experience for me because I was able to get hands on experience when working with the children and their families. Visiting the children at their homes was a great experience because I was able to see the environment in which they were living. You are able to get a different perspective about the individual when you visit them at their homes. I served as a mentor and a role model for these children and as time passed I was able to learn so much about them. I was able to see their strengths, their likes, dislikes and their goals. I was able to spend one on one time with these children helping them with homework assignments, reading, playing games and also fun activities. Many of the kids in the agency need positive attention in their lives. I believe that as a mentor I was able to play a great part in their lives because simply hanging out with them would let them know that they had someone who cares. ”

Gabby is accepted to the Master of Social Work program at California State University Northridge and will start this Fall. Good luck Gabby!
